Lay Your Burdens Down

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Peter 5:6-7

If you’re like me, there are days when as soon as I open my eyes in the morning, all of my tasks for the day, deadlines, and responsibilities come flooding into my mind. Then I am left full of anxiousness and stress and haven’t even gotten out of bed yet. This is a terrible feeling and sets a course for a long, unenjoyable day. Those types of days leave me wondering how I can make that shift to not let those things rule my mind, even though all the things that flood my mind are unavoidable and even necessary. After reading 1 Peter 5:6-7, Holy Spirit reminded me of His strength which far surpasses mine. He not only says to cast anxieties on Him but first says to humble yourself. That checked my heart. I am not all powerful, I am not the answer to my struggles, I am not designed to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. Yahweh is all of those things and He reminded me to know my place. I am His son. He said to cast all our anxieties, every single one, on Him. And He said to do this because He cares for us. So next time you have one of those stressful mornings, remember who won’t be burdened to carry the weight. Get done what needs to get done without also trying to carry the burden of stress and anxiety. Let the Father carry it so you can focus on what He has assigned for you to achieve and be able to make huge strides in the Kingdom without unnecessary weight holding you back.
