We’re All Climbing

The Rock of Central Florida   -

He has qualified us as ministers of a new covenant, not based on what is written but on the Spirit, because what is written kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:6

Recently, an acquaintance of mine reached out to me regarding a difficult situation we are both experiencing. Our mountains look similar, but they are different. They are personal. She’d sent me a message that opened a door between us, one that I knew I needed to navigate by the spirit. She is a believer in a religious system that hasn’t equipped her well for her mountain. I feel equipped to climb mine, even though it is very difficult terrain. But the difference between religion and relationship was crystal clear to me as I prepared to respond to her. I keenly heard Holy Spirit tell me, “Don’t preach. Minister.”

What humbling, wise and compassionate instruction. Instead of thinking that all I knew should be shared with her, I let Holy Spirit be her best guide. It allowed me to respond from a pure place, where we could walk through the open door together, without pride.

Steve said in his message about The Mountain that it isn’t necessary for others to fully understand your mountain. It isn’t up to us to define every feature, to judge the brand of gear, or over-advise the particular pathway of another’s journey. The mountain is personal, even while the goal is universal. We’re all climbing. Let’s climb with grace, encouragement, and confidence, remembering that we are qualified to be ministers of His spirit. There are people assigned to you – give life to them today!
