My Heart is After You
“But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.” 1st Samuel 13:14
David wasn’t a perfect man. By any outside observation, you can see that he did not always make the right decisions. However, what does the above passage say about him. Yahweh was seeking out David, because he was after His own heart.
It really does put things in perspective and let you know what the Father is truly seeking in His sons. He doesn’t require perfection. He wants a people with His heart. He knows that if a son has his father’s heart, he will always end up where he is supposed to be. Now, does this mean we can just do whatever we want as long as our heart is after Yahweh? No! When David made bad choices, there were consequences. If we make bad choices, are there not difficult paths that we have to walk out?
I would contend, however, that when the intent of your heart and spirit are lined up, you want to make the right choices. You want to honor your father! Go out this week and make sure your heart, soul, and mind are aligned with Yahweh’s. We are not a perfect people, but we have His HEART!
