The Dedication
“….Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.” Luke 2:22
Dedication: being dedicated or committed; commitment, devotion, faithfulness, steadfastness
The baby dedications have been on my mind all week. July 30th, 2023 is a marked day in The Rock of Central Florida. Children dedicated to Yahweh God, and anyone, men or women, who were not. There will be laying on of hands and words of life and purpose spoken. It is a declaration of every mother, every father, and all those who participate in the raising of the seed that are committed to the teaching, instructing, and demonstrating, through word and action, that “this is the way, walk in it”. We acknowledge these little ones are sent ones who are the vessels and conduits that allow heaven to flow into this earth and glorify the Father with their lives.
“Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
To present these little ones (and maybe even some big ones!) to the Father is to give glory and honor to our Creator who has entrusted them to us. This is receiving the mandate that has been issued to teach them in the way they should go. It is declaring we will be committed and faithful TO Yahweh, and we ARE dedicated to the task at hand, and as every parent knows, the assignment is eternal. It isn’t over when they turn 18 or 21, it changes, shifts, matures, and expands and in time they stand on our shoulders and continue to increase the Kingdom generation by generation.
“Therefore I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD.” And they worshiped the LORD there.” 1 Samuel 1:28
July 30th, 2023 will be known as a holy day. A day to stand on the floor in faithful steadfastness as men and women dedicated to the Father dedicate the most precious gifts given to Him. Tend them well.
